El rector de la Universidad Católica Andrés Bello (UCAB), Padre Luis Ugalde, mencionó en entrevista con César Miguel Rondón que el inicio de clases universitarias ha sido “realmente traumático”, sobre todo para las públicas porque el presupuesto que poseen para operar no llega a cubrir el 10% de las necesidades.
Como consecuencia, denunció que se ha perdido profesorado porque los ingresos que obtienen por esta labor es insuficiente, “ni siquiera para la alimentación”.
Asimismo, alertó que hay universidades que han perdido el 70% de su alumnado porque “se han ido de la país o la universidad porque tiene que sobrevivir y buscar sustento diario”.
“Esto hace que ninguna universidad pueda funcionar”, concluyó.
